Michael Williams is the new Head Coach of the Dutch Lions. Mike began his career in Europe as player for the legendary Hamburg Blue Devils team of the early 90’s. Following coaching stints with the St. Gallen Raiders, Hamburg Blue Devils and the Hamburg Huskies, Williams landed in Kiel to become the Head Coach of the Baltic Hurricanes. Mike returned to his native Canada and coordinated the York University Lions to three straight playoff appearances. Coming back to Germany in 2007, Mike served in a number of coaching roles, including Head Coach, with the Frankfurt Universe during their climb to the upper ranks of GFL1. Michael is an experienced clinician, having presented in well over 100 coaching clinics during his career. In daily life, Michael is the country manager for Hudl, a company providing video review and performance analysis tools for sports teams and athletes at every level.
André Schleemann was a member of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes from their first season in 1988. A standout linebacker, ‘Schlee’ went on to fulfill a number of coaching roles with the Canes during their rise to success and the top of the GFL. He has recently been the Head Coach of the Hamburg Huskies and Lubeck Cougars. Schleemann has considerable experience as a teacher for the AFVD licensing courses. Professionally, André is a road construction foreman for the municipality of Molfsee.
Emmanuel Lewis is the Offensive Coordinator for the Amsterdam Crusaders. Lewis joins the coaching ranks after a successful quarterbacking career which had taken him to Turkey, Belarus, and Germany. He led the 2015 Frankfurt Universe team to its first undefeated season with over 3,300 yards passing, 40 TD pass and some 600 rushing yards. Lewis played his collegiate football at DI Ball State and DII New Mexico Highlands University.
Steve Sheppard played and coached youth for Norwich Devils in the UK from 1986-96. He coached the Delft Dragons from 2001-2005 and the Amsterdam Crusaders from 2006-2011 before joining the Dresden Monarchs as a full-time coach for the 2015 season. Steve has had two stints with the Dutch Lions (2002-2004, 2013-2017) and coached the Australian national team at the IFAF World Championships in 2015. Steve has worked on both sides of the ball, will most every position as both coordinator and Head Coach. He has extensive experience with both Hudl and Playmaker Pro. Steve was a featured speaker at the BAFL Coach’s Clinic held last year in Brussels. In daily life, Steve is a freelance interim Project / Programme Manager.
Brian Farley is an American-born baseball coach, MLB scout and former player who has been living in The Netherlands for the past 28 years. Farley has been coaching in different capacities for the Dutch National team since 2000. He has been to the Olympics in both Sydney and Beijing as a coach. In 2011 as the national team manager, Farley led the Dutch to a world championship in baseball including a famous win over heavy favorite Cuba: the first time that a European team has ever won a world championship in baseball. For this Farley was honored with a knighthood and was voted Coach of the Year at the 2011-2012 Sportsgala. Brian is an accomplished professional speaker delivering a number of presentations to various business and professional organisations each week.
