EUROBOWL Tournament, 1st game day:  Defending Champion Braunschweig to play in France, Amsterdam hosts Frankfurt.

On the first day of the EUROBOWL Tournament, the defending champions New Yorker Lions from Braunschweig will play perennial French powerhouse Flash La Courneuve at 15:00 Saturday at Stade Géo André. The Germans start their mission to win the EUROBOWL for the fourth time in a row. However, in their first game of the season, the Lions will have to integrate more than 20 new players on their roster.  The Lions will feature high-profile players from other European countries as well as several German national players.

Flash enter the match with six league games under their belt, having won 4 of the matches.  The ten-time French champions will be highly motivated in the encounter against Braunschweig as both games against the Lions in the battle for the EUROBOWL in 2003 and 2015 ended in defeat.

“We expect a difficult task against La Courneuve. Flash have a talented team with many young players and good imports”, said Lions Head Coach Troy Tomlin. “But we will be well prepared and do our best.”

Meanwhile, the Amsterdam Crusaders wiill host Samsung Frankfurt Universe on Saturday for a 18:00 kickoff in the Dutch capital city.

The two-time Eurobowl Champions have a score to settle with Universe – they lost in the EFL final 2016 in Frankfurt by a count of 35:21.

A finalist in last year’s EUROBOWL, Frankfurt will look to launch their campaign for a return engagement in Europe’s most prestigious game with a spoiler on the new Crusaders home turf.  Like their counterparts from Frankfurt the game in the Netherlands will the first this season for the Universe.
