General Membership Meeting

General Membership Meeting (ALV).

The General Membership Meeting (ALV). is the highest decision-making body within the American Football Association of the Netherlands (AFBN).. At this meeting, members determine the policy and direction of the union. The ALV is held at least once a year.

What does the ALV do?

The ALV has the power to make major decisions about the direction and structure of the union. The ALV can, among other things:

  • amend the bylaws;

  • appoint or dismiss board members;

  • establish or dissolve committees;

  • discharging the board;

  • appoint honorary members;

  • approve the budget and financial statements;

  • decide to dissolve the union.

Role of the board

The AFBN board is elected by the members at the ALV. The board is responsible for the day-to-day management of the league. The ALV does not manage itself, but supervises the board. In case of dissatisfaction with the policy being pursued, the ALV can decide to dismiss directors.

Proceedings of the meeting

  • The chairperson leads the meeting and represents the board.

  • The treasurer explained the financial documents and financial statements.

  • Committees can report on their work and plans for the coming year at the AGM.

Additional membership meetings

In addition to the annual ALV, the board may decide to organize an additional membership meeting. Associations may also request this, provided a legally determined number of voting members request it in writing to the board.

Next AGM

The date and location of the next AGM will be announced in a timely manner by e-mail to all club boards.
