It's time for american football again. The AFBN season starts this weekend with the Eredivisie game between Utrecht Dominators and Arnhem Falcons. In the first division, two games will be played.
For the Arnhem Falcons, the game marks a return to the highest level of the Netherlands, after a year spent in the First Division. The team earned the return after a one-sided final against Hilversum Hurricanes (23-0). Utrecht Dominators proved to be a reliable player at the highest level after promotion to the Eredivisie two seasons ago. The team won three of the eight games last season (just like the season before) and stayed far from the relegation line. It even managed to beat later finalist Groningen Giants once.
The game is the kickoff of the Gridiron Eredivisie. Gridiron provides media coverage around the games each week. Want to know all about the season in the Gridiron Eredivisie? Then follow this website and order The latest issue of Gridiron - The Magazine!

First Division
There will also be games in the First Division this weekend. The first game even takes place on Saturday night. The Rotterdam Trojans host the Maastricht Wildcats. Both teams boast a colorful history, with Wildcats being an Eredivisionist until recently. However, the team was relegated after failing to win a single game last season. Rotterdam was a recent finalist in the eventful BNL. At least in 010, the kick-off of the season will already be a benchmark for the rest of the season.
On Sunday, the West Frisian Outlaws will be in action against Hilversum Hurricanes. The last time the two teams faced each other was in the semifinals of the First Division. Hilversum then won with playful ease from the Outlaws, but that takes nothing away from the outstanding season the North Dutchmen had put together. West Frisian had to beat Hilversum in the final standings purely on point differential, after both teams finished with a 6-2 record. Plenty of bad blood between the two thus on the weekend to end nicely.
